Organizational Overview
Home in Hilliard (HiH) helps older adults in the Hilliard City School District area age in place while strengthening and reweaving the social fabric of our community among residents of all ages. HiH fulfills this mission by providing volunteer services and referrals to older adult members living within the Hilliard City School District area.
Duties and Responsibilities
Volunteer and Member Support
- Recruit, screen, onboard, and support members and volunteers in accordance with board-approved procedures.
- Train members on how to request services and submit payments through the HiH platform (or another method that best matches the member’s abilities and preferences).
- Train volunteers using best practices; evaluate and update training as needs, gaps, or program changes are identified.
- Manage overall volunteer/member operations to ensure a smooth, consistent experience including monitoring daily member requests and service delivery using the approved management software.
Organizational Support
- Identify donor and grant opportunities as encountered in outreach. Contribute to proposal components as requested.
- Attend appropriate community events to educate Hilliard residents and businesses on the mission of HiH.
Service Quality and Issue Resolution
- Ensure outstanding member service and high satisfaction for both members and volunteers.
- Respond promptly and appropriately to volunteer and member questions, concerns, or complaints by phone, in person, or in writing.
Tracking, Feedback, and Continuous Improvement
- Maintain proficiency with contracted village software, currently Helpful Village
- Establish and/or maintain tools and procedures to ensure:
- Both new volunteers and new members are tracked and timely processed at each stage of onboarding
- Volunteers report service hours/time.
- Volunteers are prompted to share feedback, concerns, and challenges related to their HiH experience.
- Volunteer credentials including insurance if driving, and parent waivers, if applicable. are up to date in accordance with current policy.
- Members can provide feedback on service quality and effectiveness.
- Members feel comfortable reporting concerns or challenges.
- Member dues are properly assessed and paid.
Collaboration and Organizational Support
- Collaborate with the Board of Directors, and other staff (if applicable) to:
- Maintain clear, timely communication.
- Provide coverage for vacations and workload fluctuations.
- Improve workflows to benefit HiH operations and stakeholders.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills required.
- Strong written communication and active listening skills required.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to follow, manage, and improve processes.
- Ability to assess operations and recommend/implement improvements.
- Experience working with older adults, volunteer management, social work, and/or customer service is preferred.
- Operational knowledge of Zoom, PowerPoint and DocuSign or similar tools desired
- Knowledge of community and county resources to help connect members with wraparound supports beyond what HiH provides preferred.
- Grant writing experience is a plus, but is not required.
Compensation and Job Type
- Hourly rate of $23.25
- Working an estimated 20 hours per week
- Work requires presence in Hilliard regularly to meet with members, volunteers and attend community events. The successful candidate does not have to be a Hilliard resident and can work from home when not required to be present in Hilliard.
