Overview

That Music Teacher, LLC is scaling. We are transitioning our sales focus to engage entire school districts, providing them with a specialized solution for elementary music professional development. We are seeking a Professional Development Consultant to join us immediately to help pioneer this district-level outreach.

The Opportunity

This is a "ground floor" opportunity to work directly with our Founder and COO to define our district sales playbook. You will be reaching out to district-level leads to discuss their professional development needs and helping connect them with our in-person and/or virtual on-demand PD solutions to help meet the unique needs of their elementary music teachers.

Responsibilities

  • District Outreach: Contact educators and administrators who have already engaged with our brand to discuss district-wide needs.
  • Strategic Lead Follow-up: Execute a consistent, value-driven follow-up cadence with prospects to move them through the procurement cycle and ensure our solution remains top-of-mind.
  • Consultative Selling: Conduct virtual discovery calls to understand a district's specific PD gaps and position Elementary Music EDGE™ as the solution, when appropriate.
  • Quote Management: Prepare and send formal quotes to district decision-makers.
  • CRM Discipline: Use Salesforce to track all lead interactions and pipeline progress.

Compensation

  • Commission: Flat 20% commission on all closed district-level contracts.
  • Growth Potential: As our first sales hire, your success will help shape our pricing tiers and future sales structure.
  • Flexibility: Work at your own pace with the support of a warm lead engine.

Requirements

  • U.S. Based & Authorized: Must be currently based in the United States and legally authorized to work as a 1099 contractor.
  • Location: Remote; however, candidates in the Columbus, OH area are highly preferred for occasional in-person strategy sessions and collaborative training.
  • Education Background: A background in Music Education or General Education is highly preferred to ensure authentic, peer-to-peer "consultative" conversations with district leaders.
  • Navigating Hierarchies: Ability to navigate complex school district structures—from teachers to curriculum directors—while maintaining high relationship-based standards.
  • Communication Style: Must possess a "soft-sell" approach, focusing on advocacy and solutions rather than aggressive or high-pressure sales tactics.
  • Technical Savvy: Experience with (or a strong willingness to master) Salesforce and virtual meeting platforms to manage a remote pipeline effectively.

Benefits:

  • Flexible schedule

Application Question(s):

  • This is a 1099 independent contractor role with a compensation structure of a flat 20% commission on closed contracts, with no base salary. Are you comfortable with a 100% commission-only structure as you build your pipeline?
  • Briefly describe your experience within the K-12 education ecosystem. How would you use that experience to build trust and "speak the language" of an Elementary Music teacher or a Curriculum Director?
  • Please describe your experience in consultive selling.
  • What drew you towards applying for this position?
